North Carroll: Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show set for Sept. 23

The Manchester Area Merchants Association is hosting the fifh annual Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Manchester Valley High School.

Vehicles are $10 each to enter the show and the first 100 registrants will receive a dash plaque. Flea market vendor spaces are available at $15 per space. Coordinators are seeking vendors of all types. Vendors for the flea market may set up at 8 a.m.


Spectators may attend for free. In addition to vehicles of yesteryear, and today, as well as the flea market, there will be food and drinks, door prizes, raffle items and a deejay.

At 1 p.m., there will be a People's Choice Trophies Ceremony.


The proceeds from the show will benefit the MAMA Scholarship Fund for students at Manchester Valley High School.

Pancake fundraiser

Don't worry about breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 30, just head to Applebee's in Westminster.

Cub Scout Pack 790 is hosting an Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m.

The cost is a mere $7 per person and kids younger than 5 are only $4.50 each. That's a bargain — they cook you breakfast, serve it, and clean up — and you're supporting your local Cub Scouts. That's a win-win!

Applebee's is located at 634 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster.

MVFD hosts Sportsman Bingo

The Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, and the Westminster Elks, are sponsoring a Sportsman Bingo on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The bingo will be held at the Manchester Activities Building, located on York Street.

Admission is $40 per person and includes dinner, and 20 games of bingo. There will be 10 games with prizes of $200 each, and 10 games with guns as prizes. Some of the guns that can be won are a Ruger American Farmer, a Glock 42-380, and a Ruger Mini.

All attendees must be 21 or older, and no outside alcohol will be permitted. In addition to bingo, there will be a 50/50 raffle, pull off tickets, and much more.

Tickets may be bought in advance, and if any remain, at the door as well. The doors open at 4 p.m., dinner at 4:30 p.m. and the bingo begins at 7 p.m.T

Crab Feast

Still hungry from the pancakes? Join the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department for their Crab Feast from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the fire department.

The cost is $45 in advance per person and $50 at the door; and children ages 6 to 10 are $15 each. The dinner includes crabs (served 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.), fried chicken, hot dogs, potato and macaroni salads, baked beans, Cream of Crab and Maryland Crab soups, beer, wine, soda and more. A DJ will be playing music during the event.

Golf Tournament

The Brent Donovan Golf Tournament will be hosted by the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company on Oct. 6 at South Hills Golf Course in Pennsylvania.

Though it's the 10th year for the scholarship, the name of the golf tournament changed last year. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The game is $85 per golfer and is 4 Man Best Ball Captains Choice. There will be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin on all Par 3's. In addition, there will be food, beer, soda and water provided during the play as well as a BBQ dinner to follow.
