The Hampstead American Legion Post 200 will host its 16th annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Oakmont Green Golf Course, at 2290 Golfview Lane in Hampstead.

The format of the tournament is Captain’s Choice, best ball, and there will be contests such as longest drive and closest to the pin prizes, plus a putting contest.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with tee-off at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $85 per golfer, which includes green fees, cart, dinner, drinks on the course and range balls.

Dinner consists of fried chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, fruit salad, rolls, chips, pretzels, soda, beer and bottled water.

The event will be held rain or shine and is open to the public. Please note that seniors 62 and older should use the senior tees only.

Registration forms can be found behind the bar at the Legion, located at 4600 Legion Lane in Hampstead, or receive information upon signing up. Entries must be received by July 27; walk-ins are welcome but will be paired with others.

In addition, the Legion is seeking hole sponsors and/or prize donations for the tournament. A sponsor, with a minimum of $50 or more, receives a sign acknowledgement and/or business will be placed on a tee box the day of the outing. For donations to be used the day of the tournament, the name of the donator or the company will be recognized in the tournament flier.

Sponsorship opportunity

The North Carroll Recreation Storm Field Hockey program, which provides girls from kindergarten through eighth grade the opportunity to build athletic skills and become a part of a team, is looking for sponsors.

According to a news release they “can provide a sponsorship level that fits every business and we have unique opportunities for your business to have visibility to hundreds of local parents.”

For Gold Sponsors, $500 or more, your business logo and contact information will be on prominent banners at the field hockey fields at the former North Carroll High School all season; a custom plaque with our sponsored team’s picture: business logo on the back of team shirts; website ad space; and an exclusive offer on the 2019 members 10% off coupon card.

For Silver Sponsors, $250, you will receive the custom plaque with your sponsored team’s picture, your business logo on the back of team shirts; website ad space; and an exclusive offer on the 2019 members 10% off coupon card.

And for those Bronze Sponsors, $100, you will receive a custom plaque with your sponsored team’s picture; website ad space; and the exclusive coupon card offer for 2019.

Crab feast

The North Carroll Senior and Community Center is taking a trip to Fisherman’s Crab Deck,on the Eastern Shore, on Aug. 22.

The cost is $80 and includes all-you-can-eat crabs, crab soup, chicken tenders, corn on the cob, coleslaw, hush puppies, iced tea, soda, coffee and draft beer. The day also includes a visit to the Amish Market in Annapolis.

They will begin taking reservations as of June 24. The bus will leave the center, located at 2328 Hanover Pike in Hampstead, at 10 a.m. and will return at 6 p.m.

Benefit show

A benefit show will be held Saturday, June 22 at the Best Western hotel in Westminster to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.

The doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the show runs from 2 to 8 p.m. The show will feature the following acts: Camron Robertson, “Mr. Charisma;” Sandy Boldman, adult contemporary; Kevin Booth as Conway Twitty; Debbie Smith, classic country; Bob Hamel, oldies/Elvis; Steve Benden, 1960s Elvis; Jeff Swider, 1970s Elvis; and Randoll Rivers, 1970s Elvis.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. There will also be a cash bar, an auction and a Chinese auction. When doors open, a cash bar and pub food will be available for purchase. After the show, enjoy an afterparty with a $5 cover, snacks and discounts on drinks.
