The tulips are fighting the cold temps, rain and snow to poke through in my garden.

Please let spring be right around the corner. (As I write this, it’s gray and wet, but there’s no snow or ice, so that’s a plus.) My folder is starting to fill with news of upcoming events.

Are you all having an Easter event, church supper/breakfast, nonprofit yard sale, car show, or anything else that would bring the community outside to enjoy sun and mingle? Please be sure to send it to me — and remember, the earlier the better! New to the community and not sure what this is column is for? Send me an email or give me a call.

Art Fair vendors sought

On April 6, the Smiles & Purrs’ inaugural Art Fair will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at Ruhlman Brewery.

The event is to raise funds to benefit Hero Dogs Inc., which is a nonprofit helping to improve the quality of life for veterans by raising, training, and placing service dogs and other high-skilled canines. The service is free of charge, with lifetime support of the partnerships.

Vendor spots are currently available for $10, and 100 percent of the cost goes to the Hero Dogs.

The brewery is at 2300 Harvey Gummel Road in Hampstead. For more information or to register a vendor spot, call Sara Davis at 410-446-2380.
