Hannah E. Bronner, of Westminster, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.

Makayla Minton, of Westminster, was recognized as a spring 2017 President's Scholar at Hinds Community College, Raymond, Mississippi. President's Scholars are those with a cumulative 4.0 grade point average.

Olivia I. Zachman, of Hampstead, has been selected for inclusion on the spring 2017 semester dean's list at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York. Zachman attended North Carroll High School, and is a member of the Class of 2019 majoring in history. Dean's list students must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Anne Jekel, of Woodbine, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at Wheaton College, in Illinois. Dean's list students must carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.

The following local students made the spring 2017 dean's list at The University of Akron, in Ohio. Nicholas Neral, of Sykesville, majoring in sales management program; Donald Shanabarger, of Mount Airy, majoring in nursing – pre-admission; and Kristen Vargas, of Manchester, majoring in exercise science – pre-physical therapy. To be eligible, an undergraduate student needed to maintain a semester GPA of 3.500-3.999, and be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours.

Boston University awarded academic degrees to 6,045 students in May. Receiving degrees were Erin Kerbert, of Sykesville, Master of Fine Arts in painting; and Kristie E. Khatibi, of Sykesville, Master of Public Health in global health and epidemiology.

Alexander Zabaldo, of Marriottsville, made the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Victoria Barr, of Finksburg, graduated during the May 2017 term from Centenary University, in New Jersey, with a Bachelor of Science in equine studies.
