The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration began work to improve the roadway surface on Md. 26 Sunday night.
The roadwork is located between Calvert Way and Monroe Avenue in the Eldersburg area of Carroll County.
“[The crew] will remove existing pavement and place a new asphalt surface to provide a smoother drive on this two-mile span. Work will be performed overnight, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Sundays through Fridays. Completion is expected in October,” a MDOT news release said.
The new improvements will cost $3.3 million, according to MDOT SHA spokeswoman Sherry Christian.
Motorists can expect single lane closures during the work period. Electronic board signs, cones and barrels will inform motorists of the construction zone.
