New Windsor Town Council candidate withdraws; candidates forum set for Thursday night

Six days ahead of the election, and on the eve of a candidates forum, one of seven who had been running for New Windsor Town Council has dropped out of the race.

Michael Scott Barclay informed the town Wednesday of his decision, according to Town Clerk Donna Alban.

Barclay said in an interview that a family medical situation had arisen.

“I know I wouldn’t be able to devote the time to it that I would need to, so I thought it best that I go ahead and withdraw,” he said.

That means six candidates are running for three open seats on the New Windsor Town Council.
