A Damacus man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly groped women at a Dunkin’ store in Mount Airy.
Shamek Jamal Devone, 33, of the 20800 block of Woodside Drive, was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree sexual offense, sexual contact. He was being held without bond as of Friday afternoon, according to electronic court records.
According to the statement of probable cause, Devone sat down next to a female patron outside the Dunkin’ on South Main Street and began to touch her inner thigh. Devone then entered the establishment, and allegedly hopped the counter, complimented an employee’s breasts and proceeded to cup them.
After his arrest, Devone initially told police he hadn’t touched anyone, but he later told them he did grab the girl, according to the statement.
Devone has a bail review scheduled for July 3, and a trial is scheduled for Aug. 27. No attorney was listed for Devone in electronic court records.
