Carroll County extends Mount Airy tornado debris pick up

A powerful storm swept through parts of Mount Airy Friday night, downing trees and powerlines and causing damage to homes and businesses.

The Carroll County Department of Public Works is extending the timeline in to pick up trees and vegetative debris (branches, leaves, etc.) in Mount Airy following the Nov. 2 tornado.

All debris must be set out prior to 8 a.m., Monday, Nov. 26, according to a news release from the county, and collection will conclude at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. All other previous information remains the same.

Crews will pick up trees and vegetative debris only, according to the release. The county is unable to collect bags and construction debris.

  • Northern Resource Recovery Park, 1400 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster
      Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Hoods Mill Landfill 7901 Kabik Court, Woodbine
      Open first and third Saturday of each month, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
