A Westminster man was seriously injured after a motorcycle crash on John Owings Road on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office along with fire and emergency medical personnel units were dispatched to the area of the 400 Block of John Owings Road at approximately 2:31 p.m., according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arriving on scene, authorities located a motorcycle off the roadway on its side. The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle was traveling east when the motorcycle left the roadway, traveling for a short distance before reentering the road where it lost control and slid across the roadway onto the opposite shoulder, police said.
The motorcycle was occupied by the driver who was identified as Carl David Lehr, 56, from Westminster, police said.
Lehr was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 3 with serious injuries.
