Lineboro firefighters respond to 2 near-simultaneous barn fires overnight; both are under investigation

Lineboro firefighters responded to two separate barn fires on Lineboro Road at about 2 a.m. Friday.

The fires are under investigation by police and fire marshal’s office investigators from Pennsylvania. No injuries were reported from either fire.

Just across the Pennsylvania border in York County, the fires were inside the first response area for the Lineboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Lineboro fire company spokesperson Don Fair said they received multiple calls for the fires to the 911 call center and at the station. Because two buildings were burning simultaneously, all firefighting efforts had to be done in duplicate.

Units from four counties came together to provide mutual aid.

Both structures were destroyed. Fair said those kinds of structures tend to be prone to rapid burn.

From the scene, it did not seem that the proximity of the two structures were close enough that one would have ignited the other, he said, and both are under investigation.
