A house fire in the unit block of John Owings Road in Westminster on Friday night displaced a family, according to a Notice of Investigation from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The fire at the two-story wood-frame dwelling did an estimated $70,000 in damage to the structure and another $10,000 to contents of the home, according to the notice. It was reported at 7:58 p.m. on Wednesday, and fire companies from Pleasant Valley and Westminster responded, needing some 35 minutes to control the blaze.

No one was injured in the fire. The displaced family is being assisted by the Red Cross, according to the notice.

The fire, which was discovered by a neighbor, originated at the exterior of the dwelling. It remains under investigation.
