Further roadwork on Hampstead’s Main Street is being done from Friday morning through next week, a town official has said.

A paving crew, weather permitting, will be working between Shiloh Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue to lay a permanent patch of the travel lanes, town spokeswoman Lorena Vaccare said in an email. The shoulders will not be included in this paving project.

After that patching work is done, a permanent patch will be installed between Lower Beckleysville Road and Shiloh Avenue, Vaccare said.

The candidates for office in the upcoming May 14 Hampstead election met at Hampstead town hall Tuesday night for a moderated forum well attended by the public, fielding questions on development, the town’s ongoing Main Street revitalization project and what to do with North Carroll.

“The permanent patch is NOT the end product – once the construction is finished, the road will be fully paved from North to South as the final step in the Project,” Vaccare said.

The roadwork is expected to cause some traffic delays, Vaccare said.

“We appreciate your patience during this process of giving you a smoother driving experience,”she said in the email.
