Manchester Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire that completely destroyed a one-story wood-framed shed Friday morning, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal office.
It took the firefighters about seven minutes to control and extinguish the fire in the 2200 Block of Manchester Road in Westminster, the state news release said. The estimated loss is of $5,000.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. But it will be “very difficult” to pinpoint the exact origin of the fire, senior deputy state fire marshal Oliver Alkire said.
The investigators found a nearby burn barrel, Alkire said. An ember could have ignited combustibles within the shed, he said. But they will need to find the exact origin of the fire before making that determination, he said.
