Marissa Roberts, of Taneytown, was awarded one of the Maryland Farm Bureau’s 2019 scholarships.

Roberts, daughter of Dale and Karen Roberts, is a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau and a senior at Francis Scott Key High School. She will be attending Mount Saint Mary’s University in the fall.

The scholarship will provide $2,000 toward her college tuition.

Roberts is one of five winners awarded. The students were asked to write an essay about how the agriculture industry can attract people with backgrounds in STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

A Scholarship Committee designated by the Maryland Farm Bureau chose the winners. All winners — or their parents/guardians — are members of Maryland Farm Bureau.
