The City of Westminster’s FallFest Parade scheduled for Thursday night has been cancelled because of an ominous forecast, city officials confirmed.

“We wanted to make our decision as late as we could” to allow the weather a chance to clear, Heather Mullendore, Westminster assistant director of recreation and parks told the Times.

But the forecast did not relent.

The National Weather Service forecasts varying intensities of rain, with 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. The online forecast says there is a 100 percent chance of rain.

FallFest will open with limited operations, Thursday, Sept. 27, Mullendore said. The corn hole tournament will be held inside the gymnasium.

Snyder’s Amusements still plans to have rides open, Mullendore said. That is subject to change pending weather and the company’s assessment of it.

City parks will be closed, Mullendore said, and it remains to be seen which food vendors will participate.
