As the holiday season approached for the businesses of the Fairground Village Shopping Center, they felt that some might pass them by, tucked in as they are off of the major highways.
Starting Small Business Saturday, Nov. 24, and continuing for one week, the businesses will encourage guests to travel their way and fill up a Fairground Village Shopping Center passport. Participants only need to visit one of the participating stores to have their passport stamped. Once they collect at least 12, they can enter for a prize drawing to win a gift basket of items from the participating businesses worth more than $800.
Passports are available at each of the participating businesses. The gift basket will be on display throughout the week rotating from store to store. Hours, including extended hours for some shops, of each of the businesses will be listed on the passports or can be found on each business’ website.
Dee Garber of Village Printing and Co. said even though they have been in business for more than 30 years, customers still tell her that they didn’t know the shop was in Westminster.
Throughout the year, she said, the business owners stick together and refer customers to their neighbors.
“We all try to help each other back here,” she said. “Everyone seems very excited about [the passport program.]”
She encouraged residents to keep small businesses in mind as they shopped for the holidays. Participating businesses are:
- Blue Bistro
- Carroll Chiropractic & Sports Injury Center
- Costa Pizza (Sergios)
- The Cutting Garden
- Dancing Made Easy
- Jackson Hewitt Tax Service
- Nana & Pops Barbershop
- Shear Designs
- Starry Night Bakery
