A forum for the two candidates seeking election to the Board of County Commissioners seat in District 1 has been rescheduled for Monday, May 7.
Incumbent Commissioner Stephen Wantz and his challenger Taneytown resident Katherine Adelaide have agreed to participate in the forum, sponsored by the Carroll County Times and the Community Media Center, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Taneytown Senior and Community Center.
Forums are also scheduled for candidates running for county commissioner in Districts 4 and 5 this week.
Republicans Christopher "Eric" Bouchat, William "Paul" Burkett, Bret Grossnickle and Sean Shaffer, along with Democrat Paul Johnson, have been invited to participate in the District 4 candidate forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Mount Airy Senior and Community Center.
Four Republicans — Kathy Fuller, David Greenwalt, Frank Robert and Ed Rothstein — have been invited to participate in the District 5 forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the South Carroll Senior and Community Center in Eldersburg.
A forum for District 3 county commissioner candidates — Republicans Dennis Frazier and Tom Gordon, and Democrats Doug Mathias and Maria Warburto — is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, at the Westminster Senior and Community Center, also at 7 p.m.
At each forum, candidates will have the opportunity to give opening and closing statements, and answer prepared questions as well as submitted questions from voters online and in the live audience. If you have a question you would like to be considered, email it to carrollelections2018@gmail.com.
Incumbent Republican Richard Weaver is running unopposed in District 2 and, therefore, no candidate forum has been scheduled for that district.
The primary election is Tuesday, June 26. Early voting begins Thursday, June 14, and runs through Thursday, June 21. This year, there are two early voting centers: the Westminster Senior and Community Center and the South Carroll Swim Club.
