The Carroll Hospital Auxiliary has a new president.
Karen Durilla, of Mount Airy, was named to the position after the end of the second two-year term of her predecessor, Barbara Gunther, in January, according to a hospital news release.
Durilla will lead the auxiliary in its fundraising efforts, including an annual fashion show and ball, as well as the Candy Striper Gift Shops, The White Rabbit Thrift Shop, the Wellness Boutique and the Beasman Boutique.
Durilla first began volunteering with the hospital in 2013, joined the auxiliary in 2014, and has served as the organization’s secretary and vice president.
“I'm very excited to be the president of the Carroll Hospital Auxiliary,” Durilla is quoted as having said in the release. “I want to guide the Auxiliary members in their volunteerism and philanthropic efforts to help Carroll Hospital continue to grow and provide new services for our community.”
The auxiliary was founded in 1958 to help raise funds for what was then a proposed hospital in Carroll County, with Carroll County General Hospital opening in 1961. The auxiliary is currently in the middle of a three-year commitment to raising money for the renovation of the hospital’s family birthplace.
