Open review of Charles Carroll Community Center conceptual drawings set for Oct. 16

Conceptual drawings for the new Charles Carroll Community Center will be up for review and discussion at a community forum on Oct. 16.

The forum, headed by County Commissioner Stephen Wantz, R-District 1, is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening at the Pleasant Valley Community Fire Department, 2030 South Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster.

Demolition of the former school began Monday morning, though a bit later than the planned 7 a.m. start after rain and snow pushed back the timetable.

All interested residents are invited to attend this meeting to update the community on the progress of the center, which is slated to replace the former Charles Carroll Elementary School that was demolished earlier this year.

Wantz, county staff and Lance Tarbell from Mimar Architects & Engineers will be present to review and discuss conceptual drawings of the center and gather public input.

“This is a great opportunity for us to share the preliminary plans for the center and allow the citizens to give us input as we move forward with the project,” Wantz said in a release.
