Carroll Citizens for Racial Equality will hold its annual Bridging the Gap conference Friday.
The title for this year’s conference is “Respect, Racism and Patriotism: Talking about Taking a Knee.” The conference is free for those who have registered, though registration is now closed.
According to the organization’s website, the conference gives it “the opportunity to learn from guest speakers, local student athletes and local veterans” as they “consider how respect, patriotism and racism intersect.”
According to the group’s Facebook page, Carroll Citizens for Racial Equality was founded in the county over 20 years ago and strives to “raise consciousness about issues related to diversity and multiculturalism while developing positive and collaborative relationships with other agencies in Carroll County.”
The organization provides various seminars and programs for the community about important issues.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Westminster.
A free continental breakfast and a free lunch of pizza and salad will be provided for attendees.
