Carroll Community College student Hailey Gee’s artwork depicting a cozy home scene was selected for the college’s 2020 holiday card, reflecting this year’s theme “Home for the Holidays.”
A Westminster resident and computer graphics major, Gee expects to graduate in the spring and transfer to Stevenson University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer graphics, according to a news release from the college. She also works as a student designer in Carroll’s Student Life office. She graduated from Manchester Valley High School in 2016.

Gee said her artwork was inspired by the warm and comforting feeling that being home on a cold winter day can create.
“Whenever it’s snowing out and is really cold, the best feeling is to snuggle up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa and relax,” said Gee via the release. “Since everyone is at home this year for the holidays, it just made sense to create a piece that emits the warmest feeling possible, one that gives people a sense of comfort during these times.”

Kristen Landsman, a visual arts major at Carroll Community College and a member of the selection committee, praised Gee’s work: “It is clean with a design that reflects the current trend, one that is fitting to have this year. It really is a great achievement.”
Landsman was the winner of the contest for the past two years.
“Congratulations to Hailey for an outstanding and timely design, one that I am delighted to share with our community this holiday season,” James D. Ball, president of Carroll Community College, said via the release.
