The Boys & Girls Club of Westminster will receive a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s to renovate the lower level of its new facility on Main Street. The facility in downtown Westminster opened in April.

The grant is part of Renovation Across the Nation, which, according to a news release from the Boys & Girls Club, is “a program between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lowe’s that provides one club in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with a grant and volunteer support from Lowe’s to complete much-needed improvements and renovations.”

The club was chosen as the signature club in the state for 2018.

“Our dream has always been to have a safe place for teens, where they want to bring their friends, feel welcome and have fun. Lowe’s has helped to make this dream a reality for our Carroll County teens,” Bonnae Meshulam, executive director, said in a prepared statement. “We are so happy that our teens will finally have a safe place to call their own.”

The Club is partnering with the Lowe’s store in Westminster on the renovation and has also encouraged current teen members to be part of the design process. The new Teen Center will be ready for the 2018-2019 school year.
