No explosives found after bomb threat at bank in Taneytown

Taneytown police said no explosive devices or hazardous materials were located after a reported bomb threat.

The department’s Facebook page posted Tuesday afternoon that at 1 p.m. that day, officers were dispatched to the PNC Bank on East Baltimore Street when the threat was reported. The Maryland State Police and Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded.

Oliver Alkire, spokesperson for the Fire Marshal’s Office, said an explosion detective K9 unit was used to investigate the building for explosives and it was “determined to be negative.”

Taneytown Police Department reported the building was safe.
