Big Lots in Westminster will unveil its newly remodeled store Saturday, which will operate with precautions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The store at 140 Village Shopping Center will have plexiglass barriers at checkout and anywhere one-on-one interactions take place, according to a Big Lots spokesperson. Staff will wear masks and there will be “rigorous” cleaning throughout the day, the spokesperson wrote in an email Monday.
The renovations were scheduled to occur before COVID-19 touched down in Carroll County and not related to the pandemic, the spokesperson said. The store remained open during the remodeling, as renovations occurred primarily at night. The new layout of the store will reflect a format that’s being rolled out by the company in other Big Lots stores, according to the release.
“We are excited to introduce our new store format to Westminster,” Joice Wirkus, senior vice president of marketing at Big Lots, said in the release. “This redesign brings to life our new brand traits and showcases our assortment of affordable solutions in furniture, seasonal, home, food, and consumables. ... We are also very proud to serve alongside the Westminster community and want our customers to know that we are continuing to invest in bringing them the best shopping experience.”
From July 25 to Aug. 1, customers will receive coupons for future purchases, the release reads.
