Athen selected to manage skilled care and assisted living

Michael Athen has been selected as the director of the Health Care Center and Diven House at Carroll Lutheran Village, in Westminster. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and certified assisted living manager with more than four years of experience in long-term care administration. He will oversee the management of the skilled nursing and assisted living levels of residency at Carroll Lutheran Village.
Athen joins the Village after serving as the director of assisted living operations for Augsburg Lutheran Home and Village in Baltimore. He grew up serving as a volunteer, lifeguard, sales intern and maintenance technician in a various nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and assisted living and adult medical day care homes.
He holds a Masters in Management of Aging Services from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, a bachelor's in marketing and management, and an associate in business administration from Howard Community College. He resides in Ijamsville.
