Joel Marick

Stambaugh commissioned as Army 2nd Lt.

Nevin L. Stambaugh, of Taneytown, was one of six McDaniel College graduates commissioned May 24 as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Stambaugh also graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology on May 25 from McDaniel. Stambaugh is a two-year National Guard Minuteman ROTC scholarship recipient. Upon graduating, he plans on becoming a strength and conditioning coach. Stambaugh will serve in the Virginia National Guard as a platoon leader assigned to Troop B, 2-183rd Cavalry Regiment.


Marick serving with Fleet Angels

Petty Officer 2nd Class Joel Marick, of Eldersburg, is a Navy naval aircrewman (helicopter) serving with the Fleet Angels, a versatile squadron capable of completing a number of important missions for the Navy with the MH-60S "Knighthawk" helicopter. A Navy naval aircrewman (helicopter) is responsible for acting as a rescue swimmer while flying in a helicopter. They are the safety valve if something goes wrong during the mission. The 2005 Century High School graduate is serving with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO (HSC-2) at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia.


Gebhart is Navy student pilot

Lt. j.g. Zachary Gebhart, of Hampstead, is a student pilot with the "Golden Eagles" of Training Squadron (VT) 22, based in Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas. The squadron flies T-45C Goshawk aircraft. The 2009 North Carroll High School graduate is participating in a rigorous training process that transforms officers into U.S. naval aviators. A Navy student pilot is responsible for learning how to fly aircraft, in order to become a tactical, mission capable pilot for the Navy.
