Westminster United Methodist Church, at 165 E. Main St., Westminster, will offer the following services:
On Maundy Thursday, April 2, a Meditative Communion Service will be held at 11 a.m. for those unable to attend in the evening. At 7 p.m., there will be worship offsite at First Presbyterian Church of Westminster for a cantata, featuring the churches' combined choirs, followed by Communion.
For Good Friday, April 3, a Tenebrae service will begin at 7 p.m. Coming from the Latin word meaning "shadows," Tenebrae depicts — through the extinguishing of candles and the dimming of lights in the sanctuary — the flight of the disciples and the approaching Crucifixion. At the death of Jesus, a loud noise or "Strepitus" will sound to symbolize the ripping of Earth's foundation. Those attending are invited to stay in prayer and meditation as long as they would like.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, worship and celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ will take place at two services — 8:30 and 10 a.m. — with the message "SONstruck by Easter Morn" and featuring "The Hallelujah Chorus" led by the Chancel Choir.
