Service Learning Hours: KidWorks: 5:30 p.m. For ages 12-17. KidWorks meets twice a month. At the first meeting we spend an hour planning a storytime for younger kids. At the second meeting (Dec. 19, Jan. 23, Feb. 27) we present the storytime. You must come to both meetings to earn three service learning hours.

How You Can Help Those Out in the Cold: 6:30 p.m. For ages 12-adults. The cold weather season is almost here so it's the perfect time to learn more about how you can help people in need in our community. Discover the services and resources available in Carroll County, as well as how you can be of assistance. Volunteers are always needed.

Darla Jean and the Somethin' or Others Concert: 2 p.m. For all ages. Darla Jean and the Somethin' or Others is a local band founded in 2010. They play mostly old time country music and throw in some blues, traditional bluegrass, and original songs. You'll hear fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, guitar, banjo, harmonica, and tight harmony. They encourage singing along, tiny kids who dance in circles, and having a good time. So c'mon down and have some old time fun. All attendees need to register.

Hand-Lettering Art: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Chase those winter blues away with a warm and relaxing evening of making a lovely sign to take home or give as a gift. Author and artist, Amy Latta, will be walking the group through basic embellishments, like curving vines, arrows, banners, simple swirls, and flowers. She will then demonstrate simple hand lettering steps, ending with a watercolor technique to polish off the design. Guests are encouraged to bring either an 8 x 10 or 8 1/2 x 11 frame, and to come with an idea for a phrase or verse they want to use. All attendees need to register.
