This weekend, the Carroll County Agricultural Center will honor those who put their lives on the line and raise funds for Carroll County Special Olympics and the Carroll Cancer Center with its weekend long Saluting Our Heroes event, held the weekend of Sept. 11. The event will feature ceremonies, live music and events for the community.
In addition to the Salute, Carroll County will play host to a pair of musical events this weekend as Chamber Music on the Hill kicks off its fall series, and the Eric Byrd Trio returns to the Carroll Arts Center.
Saluting Our Heroes
The Carroll County Ag Center is hosting this inaugural event commemorating the 15th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. This weekend-long festival features the Special Olympics Maryland inspiration walk; live music; a motorcycle rally; an obstacle course; a celebration of veterans, firefighters and police officers; and more. Money raised at the event will go to the Ag Center, Carroll County Special Olympics, Wounded Warrior Project and the Carroll Cancer Center.
When: 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Cost: Weekend pass $15. Daily pass $10. All veterans, military personnel and first responders $5 with proper ID.

'8 Strings and 88 Keys'
Chamber Music on the Hill returns with their annual concert series this Sunday at McDaniel College's Decker Center Forum. The concert with feature McDaniel's director of keyboard studies David Kreider on piano, Maxim Kozlov on the cello and Nicholas Currie on the violin, as they perform chamber music, including pieces by Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy and Sergei Prokofiev.
When: 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11
Where: Decker Center Forum, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster
Cost: $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and military. Children and students with ID are admitted free.

Eric Byrd Trio
The Eric Byrd Trio, best known locally for its annual performance of the score from "The Charlie Brown Christmas Special," will be joined by a horn section and guitarist for a special concert dedicated to Ray Charles. The group, which has traveled to jazz festivals throughout the region, will perform some of Charles' greatest hits with an extra jazzy flair.
