Carroll Night Out: Slew of peach and exercise events set for Saturday

Fans of peaches and exercise are in luck this weekend, as both hobbies are well represented throughout the county on Saturday. In the morning, runners will hit the trails and roads of Manchester at the annual River Valley Run, while in the afternoon Bixlers United Methodist Church will host their annual Peach Festival.

Editor's note: The Brain Injury Association of Maryland's Eat a Peach Challenge Bike Ride, originally scheduled for Saturday at the Carroll County Agriculture Center, was canceled. The coinciding Carroll County Peach Festival and Farmers' Market at the Ag Center will still take place.

Peach Festival

If you love peaches, but have a phobia of bicycles, why not check out Saturday's other peach festival at Bixlers United Methodist Church. This festival features live bluegrass and gospel music by The Jammers, as well as a variety of lunch options. Anchoring the event are a wide selection of peaches and desserts available.

River Valley Run

This annual trail run brings runners of all abilities together for three races at River Valley Ranch. Races include a 10k trail race, running through 500 wooded acres, a 5k road course and a one-mile Kid's Fun Run through the ranch's replica old west town.

When: 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13

Cost: Registration for the run ranges between $20 and $75 depending on the race
