Recreation and Parks hosts month of events in Westminster

With the the Fourth of July taking over most of Carroll's entertainment venues this week, the Times is looking forward to events and celebrations coming up in future weeks. Throughout the entire month of July, Westminster will be taken over by Recreation and Parks events, while Common Ground on the Hill musicians hit the streets with their music.

Westminster Parks and Recreation July Celebration

The Westminster Department of Recreation and Parks are hosting events nearly every day through the month of July. This week, the city is hosting a free Zumba class in the City Park Thursday, July 2; live music Friday and Sunday; an opportunity to create a mural at the City Park basketball court Tuesday and snowballs on Locust Lane Wednesday. On Friday, Red Couch will perform on the Library Stage, while the Van-Dells perform Sunday at the City Park.

Fourth of July Backyard Cookout

The Shepherd's Staff is hosting a backyard cookout for the entire community from noon to 2 p.m. at the organization's offices in Westminster. The event will feature free food and live music from performers at Common Ground on the Hill. Food will be supplied by Cedarurst Unitarian Universalist Church.

Common Ground on the Town


For those who can't make it to any of the concerts of the Common Ground on the Hill Festival, organizers are bringing the music out to you. The Eastman String Band, Christopher James, Wherligig, the Baltimore Red Trio, the Tim Jenkins Quartet and Harry Orlove with the Eric Byrd Trio will perform at venues throughout the city of Westminster from 9 p.m. to midnight. These concerts are free and open to the public.
