Carroll Night Out: Fiddlers compete at Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention

Fiddlers will descend on Carroll County this weekend to compete and collaborate at the annual Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention at the Carroll County Farm Museum. If you haven't gotten enough of the music of yesterday at the Fiddler's Convention, you can make your way out to Carroll Community College in time for the Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus' 35th annual concert.

Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention

The Deer Creek Fiddler's Convention returns to the Carroll County Farm Museum this Saturday, for its 46th annual celebration of bluegrass, old-time, Celtic music and Southern Appalachian clog dancing. Winners at this year's competition will go on to perform at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival and Common Ground on the Hill Festival, and other prizes include instrumental prizes from Eastman Instruments and Caswell Banjos as well as $3,000 in cash prizes. This year, they will also host a songwriting competition.

Cost: Adults $12, seniors $10 and children younger than 12 are free.

"Doo Wop and Barbershop 3: Back to the Malt Shop"

The Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus will celebrate their 35th anniversary with their annual "Doo Wop and Barbershop" concert this weekend. The show will feature a capella versions of popular songs from the 1950s and '60s. During the event, the chorus will be joined by comedy quartet Razzmatazz as well as guest MC Steve Rouse.

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3; 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4.

Legally Blonde, Jr.

Spotlight Musical Theater will host their summer production of Legally Blonde, Jr. at the Carroll Arts Center, starting Saturday, June 10. The production is split into the senior performances with actors ages 9 through 17 with the junior showcases featuring actors 4 through 8. The show follows the plot of the film directed by Robert Luketic and starring Reese Witherspoon.
