De-stress in the weeks before summer with a trio of soothing events in Carroll County this week. Thursday, take in the folk stylings of Dave Rowe as he performs his latest hits at Baldwin's Station. On Friday, the Lions Clubs of Carroll County are coming together to host a day of golfing fun. For nature lovers, Saturday morning features a scenic paddle down the Monocacy with fellow canoe enthusiasts at the Bear Branch Nature Center.

Canoe the Monocacy

Grab your paddles to travel down the river at the Bear Branch Nature Center's Canoe the Monocacy event Saturday morning. The center will provide equipment, instruction and transportation for those interested in taking a canoe trip down the river.

Each boat holds two paddlers, and single attendees will be paired with others. They recommend people wear closed-toe shoes, and bring bottled water, a lunch and sunscreen.

Lions Club Spring Golf Tournament

The Lions Clubs of Deer Park, Freedom District, Greater Carroll, Roaring Run, South Carroll and Taylorsville-Winfield are coming together to host the 15th annual spring golf tournament. The competition is being held in support of the American Diabetes Association and Lions Vision Research Foundation. Registration for the tournament includes a light lunch, dinner, beer and soda.

When: 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 27

Dave Rowe concert

Become a part of music history as guitarist Dave Rowe performs at Baldwin's Station, recording the concert to become his latest live album. Rowe is a folk-inspired musician who has released 15 albums.

Rowe has been performing since he was 15, and had been a member of the bands Makem and Squid Jiggers, as well as a solo-performer.
