Saturday, children around the country will join Read Across America in celebrating the birthday of children's book author Dr. Seuss, while Thursday, McDaniel College will host a celebration of Asian culture at its Global Dinner series. Next week, Carroll Community College's annual Penguin Random House Book Fair opens its doors to the public for the 20th time.

Read Across America

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday at the TownMall of Westminster on Saturday morning with Read Across America's celebration of all things literary. The event will feature live storytelling, free books for children from toddlers to high school age students, as well as face painting, balloon art, a DJ and magic by Dave Thomen of D's Magic. The event will also have photo booths, color pages, art activities and more.

Global Dinner: Taste of Asia

McDaniel College's Asian Community Coalition student organization hosts this annual celebration of Asian dance, music and cuisine each year at the school. The event features a traditional Asian dinner, live performances and educational opportunities.

The Penguin Random House Book Fair celebrates its 20th anniversary at Carroll Community College this year. The event will feature book sales, a silent auction, free books for children, children's activities, book talks by illustrator Chris Eliopoulos and author Stacey Ballis.
