The Freedom District Lions Club held its annual Education Night in Celebration Hall at Messiah Lutheran Church in Berrett on May 23. FDLC Educational Services Chairman Matt King led the evening's program. Steve Wantz, director, Carroll Community College Foundation, attended following the 25th commencement of the college and discussed its impact on the lives of our residents and future plans for the college. A scholarship grant was presented to him to be used to assist a deserving graduate of Liberty High School or Century High School attending the college. A scholarship was also presented to a 2018 graduate of LHS and CHS, each who spoke about their college and career plans. In addition, King and FDLC President Ron Audlin presented Volunteer Service Awards to three eighth grade students from Sykesville Middle School and Oklahoma Road Middle School and three seniors from LHS and CHS. The students had the most service hours for their respective schools.
