The Voice. How can you determine if the Voice is of God and not you, talking to yourself. Here's how: The voice is telling you to do something opposite of what you want to do; the experience is life changing.
Some have never heard a Voice, but the Voice has been alive and well. We hear about The Voice 18 times in The Bible. In Acts, Saul suddenly saw a light from the sky that shone around him. He fell to the ground, and heard a Voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” This life-changing experience set him to prove that Jesus is the Messiah.
I heard the Voice in Westminster in 1995, sitting in my car waiting for a red light to change. When it changed, The Voice told me, “Don't go.” I didn't listen to the Voice for it was so unbelievable, but my foot could not press down on the accelerator. The Voice again said, “Don't go.” Finally, a car, who had run the red light zoomed past my front bumper crashing into the car in the intersection who had started after the light changed to green. Car parts rained on my car but I was not touched.
In the recent movie, 'Adrift', a true story, Tami Oldham, heard the Voice 3 times. She was shipwrecked in the Pacific Ocean on a 33 foot yacht that had been almost sunk by a Category 4 hurricane. Because of dehydration, starvation, etc., she wanted to give in but the Voice told her she needed to survive. At one point she had loaded a gun and was going to kill herself and the Voice told her not to. She set off flairs and was towed into Hawaii and survived after 41 days at sea.
Gandhi, Father of Indian Independence, explained that for him, the Voice of God, “the Still Small Voice” was a Voice from afar and yet quite near. His previous terrific struggle ended immediately afterward and he was calm.
Until recently, because of the fear stigma of mental illness, people didn't mention their hearing a Voice. Some would always make excuses why a person heard a Voice. Saul could have hit his head as he fell off the horse. Tami Oldham certainly could have experienced a head injury during the hurricane. Me, I was awake and adept. No excuses, I heard what I heard right at the red light at Baugher's Restaurant. Gandhi is quick to note that he was not dreaming.
Have I heard a Voice since? No. Not one. But I was in Virginia Beach for an Energy Seminar and wasn't having much success. Others were feeling a ball of energy when they cupped their hands. I could not feel anything. But, when we sat in the auditorium and focused on the leader sitting in front of a white movie screen ... I began to complain, “He's blocking my view! Why is he sitting there?” And all of a sudden, I saw an aura around him and a bright aura around every person in four rows in front of me. What was amazing is the thought I had that I had lived all these years and had no ideas all the magnificence that surrounds me. Have I seen an aura since. No. Maybe I just needed to understand there is more going on in this world than I ever dreamed.
My message to you is to open your mind to see that God is alive and well, all the time. Just know it. Believe it. He cares for you and will never let you down.
