Religion briefs: Cedarhurst Unitarian holding workshop to combat holiday stress

Cedarhurst Unitarian Universalists, a faith community in Finksburg, is offering a one-hour workshop called “A Mindful Approach to a Stress Free Holiday Season.” The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Cedarhurst Unitarian Universalists is located at 2912 Club House Rd., Finksburg.
The workshop will be presented by Julie Peatt Cassaday, a certified life coach. She will discuss techniques and strategies for:
Navigating the stresses of the holiday season hustle and bustle;
Allowing joy and gratitude to flow more easily;
Freeing yourself from the drama that often surfaces during family gatherings;
Resisting temptations to eat and drink too much or spend too much money.
The presentation will include a light lunch provided by CUU. Grace Bible Church Christmas Craft Show on Dec. 1
The second Grace Bible Church Christmas Craft Show will be on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Forty vendors will offer clothing, jewelry, woodwork, specialty coffee, fresh greens, home decor, kitchen items and more. Food and a bake sale table will be available on site. Drawings will be held for gift certificates. The show will take place in the multipurpose room on the lower level. Deer Park UMC bazaar set for Dec. 1
Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Road/Md. 32 at intersection with Deer Park Road., Westminster, in the Smallwood area, will host its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conjunction with a Pancake Breakfast and Soup & Sandwich Lunch. St. John Christmas Baazar set for Dec. 1
St. John will host its 65th Christmas Bazaar, on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Early Bird shopping, gym only, on Friday, Nov. 30, 4:30-6 p.m.) Come see St. Nick, pick up holiday favorites, see the Festival of Wreaths Auction. St. Peter’s holding second Christmas bluegrass jump
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampstead will hold its second annual Christmas & Gospel Music bluegrass jam/singalong on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. It will feature an open mic — singers and bluegrass players are welcome. Those interested are urged to come and enjoy an inspirational and fun afternoon, including children's activities and refreshments. It is a free, handicapped accessible event.

Calvary UMC offers Longest Nigh Service, Dec. 16
Because the holidays can be difficult for many, Calvary United Methodist Church’s Stephen Ministry is holding a Longest Nigh Service that could be helpful to those having trouble dealing with the holidays, with life in general, or with loneliness in a place where they say you can feel God's love and the love of others who are in similar situations. All are invited for the 4 p.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 16, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mount Airy.
