Church of the Brethren holding first Fall Festival

Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, at 818 0ld Taneytown Road in Westminster, is holding its first fall festival on Sept. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Activities for children include music, a balloon man and games. There will be several vendors selling items and food will be for sale inside the church. There will also be a car wash depending on the weather. For information, contact Tara Nool at 443-536-2240.

Songfest benefit for Trinity UCC set for Sept. 30

Lazarus United Church of Christ is hosting a Songfest which will be very similar to a traditional hymnsing on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. to benefit Trinity United Church of Christ’s roof project. There will be several soloists, both vocal and instrumental, along with choirs from area churches to make this an exciting and fun afternoon of music.

The purpose of this event is to help raise money to aid Trinity Church in the roof restoration project that occurred earlier this year. A free-will offering will be taken at this event. Trinity, reached out to sister church Lazarus UCC in the first week after a fire at Lazarus to aid and support. Now, Lazarus would like to in turn show them love and support, according to Pastor Rodney Gross. Their goal is to fill the church for this event and ask all to come out to Lazarus and have an afternoon of song and fellowship.

St. Matthew’s UCC to honor ‘community helpers’

St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 1427 Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, will be honoring “community helpers” on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018 at their 10:45 a.m. worship service. All helpers in the area are invited such as firefighters, paramedics and all EMS personnel, nurses, bus drivers, policemen, doctors, local government officials, babysitters, etc. They would like to have as many areas represented as possible to show their appreciation for many of the people who so willingly serve our community. Fall Tea set for Oct. 6 at Emmanuel UCC

The second annual Fall Tea will be Saturday, Oct. 6 in the Parish Hall of Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ. There will be two seatings — 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Menu includes hot and iced tea, chilled pumpkin soup, salad, assorted muffins and scones with clotted cream, assorted finger sandwiches, fruit, and sweets. The cost is $20 for those 12 and up and $10 for those aged 5 to 11.

St. John parish breakfast set for Oct. 7

St. John Catholic Church, Westminster, is having its first parish breakfast of the season on Sunday, Oct. 7 starting at 8 a.m. Breakfast is held on the St. John campus, 43 Monroe St. in the Portico. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, items include eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, creamed chipped beef, corn beef hash, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits. Cost is a goodwill offering and proceeds are to benefit the Tender Care Pregnancy Center. All are welcome.

St. Matthew’s ‘Blessing of the Animals’ set for Oct. 7

On Sunday, Oct. 7, St. Matthew's will have “The Blessing of the Animals” service at 10:45 a.m. They ask all to bring pets and other animals for a very special blessing, noting that they have had much success and fun with this day in the past.
