Religion briefs: Immanuel Lutheran receives donation, plans to start pantry

Little Free Pantry donates to Immanuel Lutheran

On Sunday, June 17th Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester was the first recipient of a start-up grant offered by Hampstead’s Little Free Pantry.

Immanuel plans to have their pantry up and running by this fall. Boy Scout Troop 320 will build the structure. The Sunday School students of Immanuel will run and maintain the pantry. They are excited about this new endeavor and thankful to Makenzie Greenwood, who started the Little Free Pantry.

Union Bridge Brethren holding VBS, July 9-13

Union Bridge Brethren Church Invites all to Vacation Bible School at 124 South St. in Union Bridge. The theme is “Shipwrecked — Rescued by Jesus.” The VBS runs from July 9 through July 13 from 9 to 11 each morning. Children from age 4 through fifth grade are welcome.

Mayberry to hold VBS, July 9-13

The Mayberry First Church of God, located one mile off Md. 140, will be holding a Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13 from 6:30 through 8:30 each night for ages 3 and up. The theme is “Shipwrecked — Rescued by Jesus.” The Disney movie “Moana” will be shown on Friday, July 13 after closing Bible School at 8:30 p.m. on the church lawn. Everyone is welcome. Westminster Baptist plans VBS for July 9-13

Westminster Baptist Church is planning its annual Vacation Bible School, July 9-13, for children age 4 through fifth grade.The theme this summer is Space Probe — Seeking out The God of the Universe. Each day begins 9:15 am and ends at 12:15 p.m. The morning is filled with air- and space-themed activities that relate to God's Word. There will be a closing ceremony Friday evening at 7 p.m. for family and friends. Children may be registered on line at The church is at 354 Crest Lane, Westminster.

Piney Creek to host VBS, July 15-19

Piney Creek Presbyterian Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School beginning Sunday, July 15 through Thursday, July 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The theme is “Loving The Word.” Children of all ages are welcome. There will be Bible stories, crafts, games and snacks. In addition to the children's program there will be a Bible study for adults as well. Opening ceremonies on the first night, July 15, will include a puppet show presented by “The Grannies of Carroll Vista.” The church is located between Taneytown and Harney at 4472 Harney Road. Pre-registration is not required.

Lazarus UCC VBS set for July 16-20

Vacation Bible School (VBS) returns to Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S. Church St., Lineboro. It will be held Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. “Ship Wrecked” is the fun theme. For ages 2 to 12 years old. Ebenezer UMC to hold VBS, July 22-26

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children in preschool through middle school from July 22 to July 26, 2018 at the church, 4901 Woodbine Road, Winfield. Activities are from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. each day. Dinner will be provided at 5:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In this year’s theme, “Rolling River Rampage,” children will experience the Ride of a Lifetime with God by exploring how to serve God and God’s mission for our lives. Activities will include Bible memory verses, art projects, singing new songs, games and snacks. The VBS is free and open to the community. Donations for dinner are welcome, but not required. Oakland UMC to host VBS, July 23-27

Also, 2018 marks the first year for evening Vacation Bible School at Oakland UMC. All children age 4 through sixth grade are invited to attend on July 23-27 from 6:30-8:30 each night. The theme this year is "God of Wonders.” Registration is required. Call 410-795-5030.
