Strawbridge Shrine to host open house Saturday morning

Once each year the historic Strawbridge Shrine has an open-house Colonial Day and this is the day, Saturday, June 15.

The public is invited to tour the historic buildings dating back to the 1760s, hear Colonial music, meets some of the artisans, and feast on freshly cooked chicken and fish. Admission is free. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


The Strawbridge Shrine is named after Robert and Elizabeth Strawbridge who came from Ireland in the 1760s and established the first Wesleyan settlement in America.

The Shrine property is located off Wakefield Valley Road in New Windsor on Strawbridge Lane. Follow the Colonial Day signs. For more information call Lou Piel at 410-751-9049.

VBS at Deer Park UMC with Calvary UMC

Deer Park and Calvary United Methodist Churches are combining their Vacation Bible School to present “To Mars and Beyond!” Here, children can explore where God's power can take them and discover God's mission for their lives and how to serve him. It will take place on June 24-28 at Deer Park UMC, 2205 Sykesville Road/Md. 32, Westminster, from 6 to 8 p.m. Children 3 years old through middle-school age will participate. Westminster Baptist Church begins registration for VBS

A Vacation Bible School at Westminster Baptist Church will be held July 8-12, starting at 9 a.m. and running until 12:15 p.m. for ages 4 through fifth grade. St. Ben’s offering free VBS starting June 23

St. Ben's (free) Vacation Bible School (VBS) is scheduled to run June 23 through June 27. They plan to embark on an epic African adventure that engages the whole herd. At Roar, kids explore God's goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. Pre-K through fifth grade are welcome. There is a dinner each night at 5:30 p.m. (monetary donations welcome but not required). The VBS follows from 6 to 8:30 p.m. T-shirts will be available for purchase. Register online at

Ebenezer UMC to hold free VBS starting June 23

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children in preschool through middle school from June 23 to June 27 at the church, 4901 Woodbine Road, Winfield. Activities are from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. each day. Dinner will be provided Monday through Thursday. In this year’s theme, “To Mars and Beyond,” children will experience the wonder of God’s universe on a voyage through space. The VBS is free. Faith Lutheran holding VBS beginning June 24

Faith Lutheran Church announces its Vacation Bible School, Miraculous Mission. The program will run Monday, June 24-28, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is open to children age 3 through sixth grade. Kids will learn about God's plan of salvation from creation to the cross. There will be Bible stories, games, snacks, arts and crafts, music, more. Church of the Open Door presents Neighborhood Bible Time

Neighborhood Bible Time begins Sunday July 7 and runs through Thursday July 11 at Church of the Open Doors in Westminster. It goes from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. for Children ages 5 through sixth grade. Buses will be available to pick up for this event.
