Priest celebrating 50 years in ministry
Father Michael J. Ruane will be celebrating 50 years of Priestly ministry on May 17 with a 4 p.m. Mass of Thanksgiving at his parish, Poplar Springs Catholic Church at 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mount Airy. He was ordained on May 17, 1969 by Lawrence Cardinal Shehan in the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore.
After serving as Associate Pastor at St. Agnes Church in Catonsville and Our Lady of Hope in southeast Baltimore County he was appointed Pastor at St. Michael, Poplar Springs effective Dec. 28, 1988. He has ministered to the temporal and spiritual needs of this Catholic Community for more than 30 years. Receptions will be held after all Masses May 18 and 19.
Faith Lutheran’s Mission Festival set for May 18
Faith Lutheran Church, LCMS, Eldersburg is holding its Mission Festival on May 18 aiming to help attendees discover the amazing ways local mission organizations are serving our community and learn about ways in which you can help support their efforts.
Participants Include: Good News Jail & Prison Ministry: Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County, Marriage & Relationship Education Center, Tender Care Pregnancy Center, The Shepherd’s Staff, Westminster Rescue Mission and more. Pancake Breakfast at Deer Park UMC
A Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Road, Westminster (the intersection with Deer Park Road), in conjunction with a community-wide yard sale (7 a.m. to 2 p.m.). All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, applesauce, and choice of beverage. Adults $7, age 5-12 $3, age 4 and under eat free. St. Bartholomew yard sale set for June 1
St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on Hanover Pike in Manchester will hold its second annual community yard sale on Saturday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, on the church parking lot. Faith Lutheran open Vacation Bible School registration
Faith Lutheran Church announces its Vacation Bible School, Miraculous Mission. The program will run Monday, June 24-28, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is open to children age 3 through sixh grade. Kids will learn about God's plan of salvation from creation to the cross. There will be Bible stories, games, snacks, arts and crafts, music, more.
