Westminster UMC announces Holy Week plans
Westminster United Methodist Church, located on the corner of Main and Center streets in Westminster, invites everyone to their Holy Week services.
On Palm Sunday, April 14, worship will be held at 8:30 a.m. (traditional worship), 9:45 a.m. (Eucharist service), and 11 a.m. (contemporary worship), with palms at all services. Easter Egg Hunt and activities follow the 11 a.m. service. On Holy Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Westminster UMC holds a worship and commemoration of Jesus' Last Supper. On Good Friday, April 19, they travel to First Presbyterian Church, 65 Washington Road, to join “in solemn worship of our Lord, crucified.” On Easter Sunday, they celebrate “Our Risen Lord” with services at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 11 a.m. The sanctuary is an allergy-friendly space, fragrance-free with no bulb flowers. Ebenezer UMC to hold Holy Week activities
Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Winfield has Holy Week activities beginning Sunday. Palm Sunday worship will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 14. Maundy Thursday Communion service will be at 7:30 p.m., April 18. A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held at 7:30 p.m., April 19.
Easter Sunday, April 21, will begin with a Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at the Krimgold Park pavilion on Woodbine Road. The church youth will lead the service. Coffee and doughnuts will be served afterward. Traditional Easter worship to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Easter week celebration at Deer Park UMC
Deer Park United Methodist Church will offer the following services and events, open to all, during Easter week.
Holy Thursday, April 18: a simple fellowship meal of soup and bread at 6:00 p.m. followed by a service with Communion at 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday, April 19: evening service at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 20: a “SonRise” celebration at 6 a.m. in the church pavilion, along with neighboring Trinity Lutheran Church, will include music and Holy Communion; sanctuary services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.; children’s party and Easter egg hunt between services at 9:45-10:45 a.m. The church is located at 2205 Sykesville Road in Westminster, Smallwood area. Calvary Lutheran Church offers Holy Week services
Calvary Lutheran Church in Mount Airy will be hosting a series of services throughout Holy Week. For Palm Sunday, they will be hosting worship services at 9 a.m. and at 11 a.m. with the procession of palms and the reading of the passion story. On Thursday, they will host the Maundy service at 1 p.m., which is a quiet communion service. On the same day, they will host a worship service in contemporary style with Holy Communion at 7 p.m.
On Good Friday, on April 19, they will host a traditional service commemorating Christ’s death at 7 p.m. Then, on April 21, they will be celebrating Easter Sunday starting at 9 a.m. with a contemporary joyful worship celebration of Christ’s Resurrection. Then, at 11 a.m., they will host a traditional joyful worship celebration of Christ’s resurrection. Calvary Lutheran Church is located on Old Frederick Rd, at the Woodbine exit off I-70. Three-night vigil leads to joy of Easter
The Vigil Project recently offered a three-night Parish Mission at Saint Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg. The Lenten gathering of worship, prayer and dynamic speaking concluded with a Christian music concert where the five members of the Vigil Project showcased their music from their Keep Watch and Pray Tour. The Vigil Project Mission and Concert was a time of prayer, faith sharing and music; a time for spiritual preparation leading to the joy of Easter.
SJCC will celebrate three aspects of the Easter mysteries: the Last Supper, the Passion of Jesus Christ and His Resurrection on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, April 18-20. Church of the Ascension, located at 23 N. Court Street in Westminster, will host its annual Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. The hunt is open to all individuals with disabilities.
