Even if you don’t make it to the big parades in Baltimore and Ocean City, there’s plenty of March entertainment coming up for those of Irish descent and those who just want to be Irish for a weekend.

The first event hosted by the Carroll County Arts Council this season is a pair of performances by the award-winning Teelin Irish Dance Company.

They return to the Arts Center, 91 W. Main Street, Westminster, for a pair of performances March 9 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $18 or $16 for guests 25 and younger or 60 and older. CCAC members get a 10 percent discount. They can be purchased in person at the box office, online at www.CarrollCountyArtsCouncil.org or by calling 410-848-7272.

The group “is known for performances that accentuate the energy of Irish dance with cutting edge choreography. From the graceful beauty of jigs and reels, to the thundering beat of percussive dance, a performance by this company leaves audience members at the edge of their seats, wishing for more,” the arts Council wrote in a news release.

The Irish step dancing company was formed in Columbia, Maryland in 2001 and have made many visits to venues in Carroll.

The event is sponsored by Blair Reid and John Glenn.

Juicers unite. The perennial favorites will be on tap at the Carroll Arts Center for two shows.

The energetic Celtic-Rock band will play two shows, Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16, both at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for adults or $27 for those 25 and younger or 60 and older. CCAC members receive additional 10 percent off.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.CarrollCountyArtsCouncil.org or by calling 410-848-7272.

The high-energy show has historically sold out, so it’s best to get tickets early.

Barleyjuice is a rowdy bunch of hooligans who thoroughly entertain their audiences in what they describe as “their playground of musical misbehavior” — a mix of traditional Irish music and their own brand of Celtic rock, according to a release from the Carroll County Arts Council.

Celtic Canter

Though the morning’s 5k race may give the Celtic Canter its name, there is plenty of entertainment to be found in the Westminster outing, from a pub crawl to whiskey tastings to artisans and vendors to live music.

The band Poehemia, will play rock music with a Celtic twist from 10 a.m. until noon on Main Street.
