Coming Attractions: Annual Festival of Wreaths returning to Carroll Arts Center

Happy Thanksgiving! On this day where we celebrate gratitude, I want to give special thanks for the amazing artists in Carroll County, who share their talents so generously with all of us, and for the patrons of the Carroll County Arts Council, who support these artists and the Arts Center by attending our exhibits, performances and events. Thank you to this amazing community from all of us at CCAC!

Friday, Nov. 23 is the official, “unofficial” beginning of the holiday season, and there are lots of activities here at the Arts Center to get you into a festive spirit. You can find a complete listing of all our programs at

Drum roll, please! Friday, Nov. 23 is the opening of our 21st Annual Festival of Wreaths! Sponsored by PNC Bank and the Carroll County Times, this annual event and silent auction features over 160 spectacular themed wreaths and pieces of holiday artwork. Come enjoy the holiday atmosphere, bid on a wreath and enjoy this Carroll County tradition that is one of our most significant fundraisers. The wreaths will be adorning the Director’s Hall and Community Gallery. Many of the wreaths include gift cards, theater tickets, vacation rentals, and other merchandise, so don’t be deterred because you already own a wreath. Admission to the festival is free to the public, and it runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 23 through Dec. 1, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2.

We have a variety of additional holiday events during the 10-day Festival of Wreaths, starting with carols from Joyous Voices on opening night, a free screening of “A Christmas Story,” on Sat. Nov. 24 at 3 p.m., the Westminster Municipal Band Monday, Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m., Motown and More Friday, Nov. 30 and Common Ground on the Hill Saturday, Dec. 1. Find the details and purchase tickets at

The Tevis Gallery is already decked out with baskets, prints, textiles, and wood carvings for the 10th Annual Gallery of Gifts. This special cash and carry exhibit is more of a holiday boutique than a traditional exhibit, with over 45 artists filling the gallery. Find unique and creative gifts while supporting local artists. Special thanks to Farmers & Merchants Bank for sponsoring this holiday staple.
