Enjoy some theater on a cold December night as the Carroll County Dance Center returns with its annual performance of Tchaikovsky's classic “The Nutcracker” this weekend. If that’s not enough stage performance for you, why not check out the Barrier-Free Theatre Company’s original one-acts “Dispatch” and “Plan It” being performed at McDaniel College also on Saturday and Sunday.
The Carroll County Dance Center and Ballet Conservatory will host its annual performance of the classic Christmas-themed ballet “The Nutcracker” on Saturday and Sunday at Carroll Community College. This performance has been a tradition in the community since 2003 and will feature dancers from Howard, Carroll and Frederick counties as well as Pennsylvania.

Barrier-Free Theatre Company of Maryland will present two original one-act plays as part of their inclusive theater program. Barrier-Free Theatre was designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism and features a rehearsal process that emphasized improvisational exercises and drama games to create original scripts and story lines. Each performance will feature the two one-acts performed back-to-back.

On the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will host this blues concert to memorialize the homeless persons who have died in the past year in Carroll County. This concert is an annual somber and powerful reminder as the county enters into the winter months.
