Sarah Marie Scrivener, daughter of Robert and Patricia Scrivener, of Eldersburg, and Travis John Carstens, son of Timothy and Ruthann Carstens, of Weirsdale, Florida, were married at Celebrations at the Bay in Pasadena on March 16, 2014.

The Rev. Roger Fair performed the ceremony.


The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Matron of honor was Kerrin Torres Meriwether, of Clarksburg. Bridesmaids were Jill Darling, of Catonsville; Michelle Papal, of Silver Spring; and Emily Forbes Carstens, of Arnold, sister-in-law of the groom. The flower girl was Corryn Caldwell, of Crofton.

Best man was Jesse Carstens, of Arnold, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Patrick Barnes, of Virginia Beach; and Rick Scrivener, of Silver Spring, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Jace Carstens, of Arnold, nephew of the groom.

The reception was held at Celebrations at the Bay.

The newlyweds are residing in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Liberty High School, a 2006 graduate of Ohio University, and 2009 graduate of Towson University's masters program. She is employed by Newport News Public Schools.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of St. John's Lutheran High School. He is serving in the Navy, stationed at Oceana Naval Station in Virginia Beach as an aviation structural mechanic.
