More than 40 last-minute donations received after Christmas added another $6,675 to the Holiday Hope campaign, bringing the grand total raised this year to $128,807.17. Again, we cannot thank our community enough from this tremendous outpouring of generosity this holiday season.

The latest contributions received included $1,000 from Wayne and Elaine Hollenbaugh in honor of family, $500 from Chris and Hank Miller in memory of Mary and Dino Cesarin, Margaret and Hence Miller, $350 from Chuck and Morrisann Wilson, $250 from Lois Romeo, $200 from the Adams, Cincotta and Bubert families in memory of Son and Brother Noah Patrick Adams, $200 from Carolyn and Robert Boner in honor of all our grandchildren and $150 from Ascension Church Pins & Needles Group.

Also received was $50 from the Carroll County Coin Club in honor of the 50th anniversary of the club, $50 from Jeanette Eckard in memory of Gary Eckard and Bill Stitely, $50 from Richard McKibben and Family, $50 from Charles and Lyn Spencer, $25 from the Bowman and Haines families in memory of Brenda Haines and Sandra Bowman, $25 from Rose and Val Patterson in memory of Russell B. Wilson, $25 in memory of Gertrude Vaio, $25 from Tivis Buckingham in honor of past and present pets of the Evans, Farver and Buckingham families, and 16 anonymous donations totaling $2,600.

Holiday Hope is an annual campaign in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Access Carroll, Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice and The Shepherd’s Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays.

The Shepherd’s Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county’s needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Access Carroll offers integrated healthcare services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.
