An anonymous donation of $10,000, plus 27 additional contributions totaling $3,375 has the 2018 Holiday Hope campaign on the cusp of reaching our goal of $120,000 raised for five partner charities before Christmas Day.

Other recent contributions included $200 from Dave Nicholson and family in memory of Charles, Ruth and Michelle Nicholson, $200 from Bill and Johanna Brown in memory of Christine Hazzard, $200 from Calvin and Joan Brown Pickett in memory of our parents and four siblings, $200 from David and Kimberly Carl in memory of Mary and Donald Carl, $200 in memory of Terri Meushaw, $100 from Gloria and Gene Farver in memory of family members that have passed, $100 from Marlene Dull, Dawn Crandell, Ike and Robin Dull in memory of Bernie Dull and all family and friends, $100 from Dave and Dottie in memory Frieda Haschert and in honor of Walter Haschert, $100 in memory of Louise Griffin and $100 in memory of William Elliot.


Also received was $100 from Mom and Dad in honor of Martina Lane, Nikki Haschert, Chuck Haschert and families, $100 from the children of Charles and Bertha Turnbaugh in honor of our parents, $75 from Carol and Stephen Butler in honor of the Butlers and Blaum family, $50 from Richard and Linda Bowers in memory of Forrest and Frances Roser, $50 from Burke in memory of Mary, $50 from Gil and Bobby Muse in memory of Jack and Margie Muse, $50 from Bob and Sharon Wilson in memory of Roland and Hilda Wilson, and Gus Wilson, and 10 anonymous donations totaling $400.

Holiday Hope is an annual campaign, now in its 20th year, in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice, Access Carroll and The Shepherd’s Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This year’s goal is to raise $120,000 for the five partner charities by Christmas.

This year, Carroll Community Bank is assisting the Times in processing donations. Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county’s needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Access Carroll offers integrated healthcare services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.

The Shepherd’s Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.
