More than two dozen donations, highlighted by a $2,000 contribution from the Ravens Nest No. 14 — Sykesville/Eldersburg, has put the Holiday Hope campaign more than $5,000 closer to its $120,000 goal with three days left until Christmas.

The latest donations received include $530 in memory of Donna Calhoun and Jack Calhoun, $250 from Carmen, Canton and Crew Rutters in honor of grandparents Steven and Penny Rutters, $250 from Martha Wiseman, $200 from Linda Wright family in memory of Kim and Rita Lankford, $200 from Joan and Sam Mann, and $150 from the Potee family — Frank, Cindy, Nathan and Kristy in memory of Marion Potee, Otis Tackett and Arnie Vandervalk.


Also received were donations of $100 from Calvin Miller in memory of friends and family lost in the past — Betty Surasky, Martha and Irvin Miller, Sharon Miller, Sally Disney Miller and Mabel Disney and in honor of Bethany and Tom Enoff and family, Dee Arrington, friends and family, $100 from Allen Anthony in memory of Carl Anthony, $100 from Claire and Sharon in memory of John, $100 from Josephine Minturn in memory of John Francis Minturn, $100 in memory of Susan Simmons, $100 from Dave and Dottie in memory of Danner and Margaret Martin, $75 from Wendy, Cindy and Dwight in memory of mother Dorothy C. Mullinix, $75 from Rob and Helen Kidd, $50 from Gail Carlson in memory of Les Carlson, $50 from Adrienne Kaylor-Long in memory of John and Muriel Kaylor, $35 from Noeleen and Don Schuettpez in memory of Randy, William and parents, $25 in memory of parents, $25 from the Carroll County Duplicate Bridge Club, and eight anonymous donations totaling $575.

Holiday Hope is an annual campaign, now in its 20th year, in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice, Access Carroll and The Shepherd's Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This year's goal is to raise $120,000 for the five partner charities by Christmas.

This year, Carroll Community Bank is assisting the Times in processing donations. Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county's needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Access Carroll offers integrated healthcare services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.

The Shepherd's Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.
