Holiday Hope: More than $65K raised toward goal

Donations of $1,135 from the Tevis Family of Company Employees in honor of Jack and Beth Tevis, $1,000 from Joy Bollinger in memory of George and Mary Bollinger, and $500 from Becky in memory of 2 Moms, 2 Dads and Ronnie, plus 25 others have helped Holiday Hope raise $65,650 toward our $120,000 goal.

Other contributions recently received included $300 from Steve and Mary Hayes in memory of Bernard and Alta Armacost, $200 from Brian and Kitty Meehan in memory of Clarice Terry, $200 in memory of Bo Yingling and Bob Chester, $200 in honor of Marie Walsh, $125 from Nancy L. Kaufman in memory of Edward L. Kaufman III, $100 from Mr. and Mrs. Charles Odell in memory of Bob Willoughby, $100 from Roy Stewart and family in memory of Ruth Stewart, $100 from Melvin T. Hush in memory of Rose M. Hush, $100 from June Miller in memory of Earl Miller, $100 in memory of Agnes and John Moore, $100 in memory of Lee and Tommy Deavers and $100 in memory of Ruth E. Shaw.


Also received was $100 from Dale and Sandy Yingling in honor of loved ones, $100 from Mel and Diane Fischer, $50 from Bob and Karen Miller in memory of Bob and Rita Miller and Walter and Catherine Gomulka, $50 from Dr. Lauterbach in memory of Fred Lauterbach and in honor of George and Josephine Stoffle, $50 from Mike and Dianne Bennett in memory of F. David Schaeffer, and eight anonymous donations totaling $600.

Holiday Hope is an annual campaign, now in its 20th year, in which the Carroll County Times teams up with Carroll Food Sunday, Neighbors in Need Year Round, Carroll Hospice, Access Carroll and The Shepherd's Staff to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This year's goal is to raise $120,000 for the five partner charities by Christmas.

This year, Carroll Community Bank is assisting the Times in processing donations. To participate in Holiday Hope, simply clip the donation form found today on page A10, fill it out and mail it along with a check made out to the appropriate charity to: Carroll Community Bank Attn: Holiday Hope, 29 Westminster Shopping Center, Westminster, MD 21157.

Donations may also be dropped off at Carroll Community Bank branches in Westminster and Eldersburg.

Carroll County Food Sunday operates food banks for the county's needy from locations in Westminster, Taneytown and Eldersburg.

Neighbors in Need Year Round, administered through Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., provides assistance with rent, essential utilities and security deposits for people struggling to maintain their housing.

Carroll Hospice provides palliative care and support services to people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Access Carroll offers integrated health care services on a sliding fee scale to uninsured and low-income residents to help patients maintain good health and manage illnesses.

The Shepherd's Staff is a Christian outreach and support center serving those in need and encouraging pathways to self-sufficiency.
